Over the years denim has been faded, bleached, whiskered, ripped, bedazzled, decorated with statement buttons, tie-dyed, or darkened. But it has always managed to remain a constant in our lives. It seems like the day of denim will never die…and I’m soooo over the moon about that.

Now-a-days denim on denim is making a comeback. But they way we used to wear it in the 90s (all matchy-matchy) is over and done with. With these simple styling tricks, you can modernize your denim on denim look.

1. Make sure your denim on denim isn’t an exact match. Play with various washes.
2. Break up the monotony. Throw a blazer or cardigan on over that dissimilarly washed denim top, or put a cute, flirty top on under the denim jacket or vest. Or throw on some black, gray, or white jeans with that vest or jacket. Don’t forget about your belts and shoes…they play an important role in breaking up the tedium.
3. Accessorize with denim. Denim accessories are very trendy these days. You have tons of accessories to choose from: there are denim handbags, denim clogs, denim boots, denim pumps, denim hats…I could go on and on.

Here are a few denim pieces that you might want to play with.
