Earth Day is almost here. As a matter of fact, it’ll be here tomorrow. For many, it’s so hard to do stuff that will help out the environment. But that’s because they don’t know how many eco-friendly products there are out there. In honor of Earth Day I wanted to bring you a few eco-friendly, beauty finds. Happy Earth Day, and more importantly, happy shopping!! Click on the images below to shop.
Everyone who cares about their appearance wants healthier nails. Sure you could get manicures twice a month and take dietary supplements for healthy nails…but what if those options aren’t in the budget for you? Well I’ve researched some easy home remedies that might just put an end to your nail woes.
1. Nails need moisture. Nails don’t contain fat (probably the only lucky part of our bodies…lol), so there’s no way that they can hold moisture. Soak your nails in lukewarm water and applying a good moisturizer directly after (don’t forget that petroleum jelly works well as a moisturizer). This will help your nails hold their moisture…enough moisture to keep them healthy.
2. Are your nails discolored or stained? Soak your nails in natural lemon juice for a few minutes. The acid from the lemon works as a bleaching agent and will return your nails to their normal color.
3. Weak nails? Try soaking your nails in olive oil for 5 minutes a day a few times a few times a week. This will help keep your nails healthy and strong.
4. Make sure to apply a base coat before applying nail color. This will prevent the nail color from staining your nail and turning them yellow.
5. Try to avoid messing with your cuticles as much as possible. Cutting them or pushing them back with those harsh metal instruments will only break down the cuticle’s natural protection from bacteria and (bad) moisture. Instead try soaking your fingers in lukewarm water and gently pushing them back with a moist cloth. And don’t for get to moisturize!!
A little while back I told you all how to get the Minx look without paying the Minx price. (I’m not sure if you recall, but Minx can cost anywhere from $40 – $85.) Well I recently came across something that was much easier than making your own nail designs and much cheaper than that costly Minx. What am I going on and on about? Sally Hansen Salon Effects Nail Polish Strips.
Now I have to admit, I’ve come across similar nail applications but none have seemed as easy to apply at these. Not only that, but these nail strips have an assortment of colors (some of the colors are featured above). And at a price that comes in at under $15, they are much cheaper than Minx could ever hope to be these days. One more pro about these nail applications, they can last for as long as 10 days!!
Even though these are probably easy to apply, it always helps to have a little tutorial (that is, if you’re interested.)
*Hi everyone. Please forgive me for my lack of posts last week. I was having a few issues with my computer but everything is much better now. So I’m going to get back to business as usual .*
Okay, you may not know this about me, but I am a major superhero buff. I know, I know…it’s very geeky, but I don’t care. So imagine my glee when I found out that MAC would be creating a Wonder Woman collection. This is very exciting for me…Wonder Woman is my FAVORITE DC Comics superhero…yes, even over Superman, Supergirl or Batman.
Like all MAC products, the prices range from reasonable to somewhat expensive, but this is a great looking collection. And in true MAC form, the colors range from neutral to outrageous.
The collection will be available from February 10, 2011 through mid April, 2011…just in time for spring. Can’t wait!!

Kerry Washington, Leighton Meester, Kim Kardashian, and Meagan Good in Clip-On Bangs
When I was a little girl I used to put a towel on my head and wear it as my hair. When I got a little older my hair started growing. Since then, I’ve shied away from towels and stuck with my natural length…be it long or short.
As you can probably tell, I’m not normally one to wear hair extensions but I’ve recently come across a hair craze so innovative that I had to bring them to your attention. The hair craze that I’m totally in love with these days is clip-on bangs…but I guess you figured that out from the title of this post.
If you’re like me it takes a while to change hairstyles, and when you finally decide to make that change you want to make sure that it’s not anyhing too drastic. Bangs allow us to do just that. And with these clip-on bangs you can change your look without permanently changing your look. Sounds good to me!!
