Jason Wu for Target

January 26, 2012

Jason Wu for Target

I’m not sure if you’ve heard, but Jason Wu is working on a new project. Who is Jason Wu?? Well his dresses have only draped the bodies of Michelle Obama, Beyonce, Emma Stone, Diane Kruger, Zoe Saldana, Sandra Bullock…I could go on, but I don’t want to bore you. Who knew when he released his first collection in 2006 that he would be such a prestigious and coveted designer whose dresses sell for thousands of dollars?

Well Jason Wu is among tons to share their expensive wear with the masses. He plans to do that through Target of course. His collection for Target hits stores on February 5. This is another one that I can’t wait to see. Let’s hope that this collection doesn’t sell out on the first day like the Missoni for Target collection did. That would be a shame.

Anyway, I’ve managed to find the commercial for his collection. Based off of what I’ve seen in the commercial and several lookbooks, this is one collection to be excited about.

Michelle Obama, Reese Witherspoon, and Diane Kruger in Jason Wu Dresses

Michelle Obama, Reese Witherspoon, and Diane Kruger in Jason Wu Dresses

Target recently announced another collaboration, and not even a month after Missoni for Target crashed Target’s website and completely sold out. Some would think that Target is a glutton for punishment by collaborating with yet another high-end designer and upsetting buyers everywhere with the disappointing site crash and quickly sold out pieces…others would think that Target is one of the luckiest retailers in the world because the Missoni for Target collection flew off the shelves earning Target (and most likely Missoni) millions in revenue.

Well I guess they’re giving it another go with Jason Wu. This prestigious high-end designer has graced such celebrities and public figures as Michelle Obama, Reese Witherspoon, Lea Michelle, Diane Kruger and Kerry Washington…just to name a few. Now he can be a highlight in your closet too. This is one collection that I can’t wait to buy because the cost of his designs range in thousands. And to think…I can get tons of Jason Wu pieces for under $50 (most likely).

As any budget fashion blogger would be, I’m excited to see what this collection will look like. And if the dresses above or below are any indication, I’ll be pleasantly pleased. The collection will hit stores February 5, 2012. You better set your calendars for this day because you don’t want to be the odd man out if the collection is sold out like Missoni for Target.

It’s not news that I’m a huge fan of knee boots (or riding boots as it’s known in some circles). And this pair of Ciao Bella double-buckle knee boots is no exception (above). I’m really adoring them!! But if I could avoid it, I wouldn’t want to pay $179 for them. But I found a pair at Target for only $39.99 (below). That’s the kind of price I love. And is it just me, or do the boots at Target look much better?? Click on either image to shop.

Jennifer Aniston and Kate Hudson in Calypso St. Barth

Jennifer Aniston and Kate Hudson in Calypso St. Barth

Calypso St. Barth is bringing their high-end bohemian chic style to Target. I couldn’t be more excited. You normally have to go to a special Calypso St. Barth boutique in order to find the high-end brand. And when you finally find the sparsely placed boutique, you’ll definitely notice the $300 – $700 price tags. But this collaboration with Target is bringing Calypso St. Barth to budget-conscious shoppers like us! With prices ranging from $14.99 – $39.99, Target and Calypso St. Barth seem to be very concerned with the downward spiral of the economy. Yay for Target and Calypso St. Barth!!

When you compare the Target collaboration with the original, you can see that Calypso St. Barth didn’t stray too far from their usual designs. I can’t wait to check out the actual line in person to see the quality. Hopefully it will be all that I anticipated. The line will be in stores starting May 1. I know I’ll be there. Take a look at their look book below.
